Oliver and Zena’s love story began with a chance encounter at a local coffee shop. What followed was a month of perfectly timed coffee runs, hopeful bump-ins and growing feelings before the pair finally went on their first official date. Six years later, on the exact anniversary of that first meeting, Oliver planned a heartfelt surprise proposal that celebrated the journey they had shared and the future they were building together. Captured on video and followed by celebrations with their nearest and dearest, it was a deeply personal moment and the perfect beginning to their next chapter.
The Meet-Cute
We met each other exactly 6 years ago from our engagement date. I went out for a coffee with my mum, as I was ordering, a girl walked in and they recognised each other. They were trying to figure out how they knew each other. I made my way over, and it was Zena. As they were speaking, I was trying to think about how to get a word in and start a conversation with her. Although we could not come to a conclusion and the conversation ended, we both knew something was there! From then we both happened to make it our daily coffee spot, knowing we might bump into each other, and we did!!! After a month of bump ins, we officially had a proper coffee date, falling in love from that moment. We caught up each day, same time, same spot, same coffee - and here we are!
The Proposal
Oliver proposed to Zena at Aldinga on 18th May 2026.
I knew I wanted to propose on the 18th of May, being exactly 6 years since that first moment we bumped into each other at the coffee shop. I had planned a day down south, heading towards Aldinga for a morning coffee before taking Zena to a special location overlooking the beautiful scenery of Sellicks Hill.
I put my phone on record and said I wanted to capture some behind-the-scenes footage for us to look back on over the years. She walked into the frame, we had a little moment together, and as we spoke about our future, I asked her to look out into the distance. As she turned away, I got down on one knee and asked the question.
She was completely shocked. I managed to keep it a secret, making it the surprise of her life. Afterwards, I had organised a surprise lunch so we could soak it all in, followed by a dinner at home that evening with both of our parents to celebrate such a special moment.
The Ring
Zena's ring is a bespoke Class A design, featuring a moval solitaire.
What is your favourite aspect of your ring?
Zena: I love the uniqueness of the Moval shape. This is everything I ever dreamed of. Something that I had never seen before, yet the only ring that was meant for me! I adore the personal touch with our birthstones on the inside too!
Oliver: I just simply love how much Zena loves it. I knew she wanted something timeless and classic, yet unique for her... That's why the Moval is so perfect.
Why did you choose Class A?
I chose Class A because after the last few years my fiance has adored all of their fine jewellery and built up her Class A collection, speaking about her dream pieces. Through work, fun and having a great relationship with Sinziana from Class A, this was a no brainer! The process was effortless. Right from the first appointment, as soon as I described to Sinziana and Josh that it had to be a decent size for Zena as she has longer fingers (she's ok with me saying that haha). I shared that Zena had always loved the idea of an Oval, but that she's also seen it become quite common (for good reason of course), so I made the point that I wanted it to be classic but it had to be unique. Josh instantly mentioned the Moval... Slightly longer, Slightly bigger, never seen before and a new type of shape they were looking at. My gut feeling straight away was that this was going to be it. They got a few samples in by the next week, varying in sizes, they were all incredible and I instantly chose the one and the Class A team got to work. We also came up with the idea, for an extra personal and unique touch to put both of our birthstones on the inside of the band, which was even more special. Sinziana was kind and creative enough to offer some content from behind the scenes of the process of making the ring, knowing my partner would love the whole journey being documented and she did. It made the whole experience so special.
