What began as a blind date shortly after Steph moved to Sydney has turned into a love story filled with laughter, surprises and unforgettable moments. During a romantic long weekend in the Blue Mountains, Lachie got down on one knee over breakfast, leaving them both laughing with happiness and disbelief. But the surprises didn't end there. Lachie had secretly flown Steph's entire family from Adelaide to Sydney, including her 86-year-old Yiayia, for a beautiful celebration with their nearest and dearest. From champagne filled lunches to a double rainbow, it was a weekend neither will ever forget. And the sparkling ring? A design Steph had fallen in love with at our Sydney Trunk Show the year before, without ever imagining it would one day be hers.
The Proposal
Lachie proposed to Steph in the Blue Mountains, on 2nd October 2026.
We had long-weekend plans to escape to the Blue Mountains for a bit of R&R. It was a belated anniversary weekend that Lachie had planned for us.
We arrived on Thursday night at the most romantic, luxurious bubble tent and woke up to the most beautiful sunrise on Friday morning. We got dressed and sat outside for breakfast. First thing, Lachie got down on one knee, and we both just burst into laughter. We couldn’t stop laughing for about 10 minutes straight. I was SO surprised!
The next couple of hours were so special, as only the two of us knew. We wandered to a little cottage café, I got my nails done at a local salon, we had a glass of wine in the outdoor bath, did a puzzle together, and literally didn’t stop chatting and laughing all day. I was still in complete shock!
Once we’d come back down to earth a little, we FaceTimed our friends to share the news, which was so much fun. We didn’t call our families though, as apparently Lachie had organised a “conference call” between both families for the next day so we could tell everyone together. I thought it was a little strange, but didn’t think too much of it…
The next day, we arrived at Lachie’s parents’ place in Sydney for the much anticipated “conference call” with my family, who I thought would be joining from Adelaide. Instead, my entire family was standing there in the kitchen! In Sydney!! Even my 86 year old Yiayia! I was genuinely SO surprised and couldn't believe that Lachie had planned all of this.
We celebrated with a gorgeous long lunch at Bert’s in Newport with both of our families. We drank magnums of champagne and didn’t stop laughing the entire time. Afterwards, we headed back to Lachie’s parents’ place for the afterparty, with about 20 of our nearest and dearest friends joining us to continue the celebrations into the night.
At some point it randomly started hailing and a double rainbow appeared, so naturally we all ran outside into the rain to get photos!
It was the biggest surprise ever and Lachie thoughtfully planned the entire thing with so much love. I can't believe how lucky I am to spend the rest of my life with him! Without a doubt the best weekend of our lives!!!!
The Ring
Steph's ring is a clasic Class A design, Grace.
What is your favourite aspect of your ring?
It's literally the shiniest ring we've ever seen - we can't stop staring at it! And it just feels so "me"!! 🤍
I went to the Class A trunk show in Sydney last year with some girlfriends, just for fun. After a few glasses of champagne and trying on every ring in the room, we fell in LOVE with this one. Little did I know the amazing staff had taken note of the design and my ring size - so when Lachie went to propose all the details were on file!
