After five and a half years together, Jacob and Ruby’s next chapter began with a heartfelt proposal during a quiet birthday getaway in Inman Valley. What started as a simple escape with their dog Alfie turned into something unforgettable, as Jacob surprised Ruby outside their tiny home, getting down on one knee in a moment she never saw coming. Completely caught off guard, Ruby’s reaction made the moment all the more special.
Her ring is a meaningful toi et moi design, blending sentiment and style with a thick band and two stones that tell a deeper story. At its centre is a round diamond passed down from Ruby’s late grandmother, a detail she had always dreamed of including but never expected to be surprised with.

The Proposal
Jacob proposed to Ruby at Inman Valley on 8th November 2025
We went away to Inman valley with our dog Alfie. It was the week of my birthday, which was November 4th, and we had booked a last minute getaway to a tiny home the week before with a Airbnb voucher Ruby had gotten for her birthday in September. As we were technically going away for my birthday I thought it was perfect as she wouldn’t suspect a thing. I tried to do the proposal on an afternoon walk on the land we were staying at, but couldn’t find the right time to do it. Then I managed to sneak outside while Ruby was about to have an afternoon nap, set up my phone and asked Ruby to come outside to play another game of cards with me. When she came outside I was at the bottom of the stairs down on one knee and the rest is history. She was very shocked and shaking and it was a moment I will never forget.

The Ring
Ruby's ring is a bespoke Toi et Moi design.
What is your favourite aspect of your ring?
It is a custom toi et moi ring with a thick band. The round diamond is Ruby’s late grandma Janeece’s on her dad’s side, and Ruby has Janeece as her second name. Ruby had always wanted a part of her grandmas ring in hers, and she had no idea I had it and that I was going to actually put it in her ring!

Why did you choose Class A?
Ruby’s late grandpa bought her a ruby for her 16th birthday, which after searching high and low, he found the perfect one at Class A Jewellers. Ruby later got that ruby made into a necklace at Class A, that she wears it everyday, and always said she would love her engagement ring to be made there too.
