Josiah Whittaker proposed to Nicole Zacher in the comfort of their new home, creating a moment that was both personal and true to them. After meeting as fellow teachers at the same school and building a life together over two years, Josiah waited until they were settled before making his move. Just before heading out for an evening in the city, he pulled Nicole into the lounge room, shared a heartfelt speech, and got down on one knee. In a perfectly unplanned twist, their Golden Retriever wandered between them mid-proposal, making the moment even more memorable. They later celebrated with dinner, Christmas markets, and city lights.
Nicole’s ring is a striking toi et moi design featuring pear and emerald cut stones, chosen for its brilliance and sparkle. The couple chose Class A for the freedom to create something uniquely theirs, resulting in a piece that reflects both their style and the life they are building together.
The Proposal
Josiah proposed to Nicole at home on 5th December 2025
My plan was always to propose at our new home. I had strict instructions of “it can’t be in front of people, at the beach, or on a hike because it’s too cliche!” The first few weeks after moving in were way too chaotic to throw a proposal in there too, so I waited until we were somewhat settled and downstairs was tidy. We both finished work for the day and had already planned to go into the CBD to do some shopping at grab some dinner. Once we were ready to leave, I pulled Nicole into the middle of the lounge room, gave her a speech about how much she means to me and how much I’m looking forward to our life in our new house. I got down on one knee, pulled out the ring where then our Golden Retriever walked right between the middle of us, so as I proposed she was getting some scratches on the chin. Everything was captured by our security cameras, and we celebrated by going out to a nice restaurant in the city and browsing the Christmas markets and lights!

The Ring
Nicole's ring is a bespoke Class A Jewellers Toi et Moi design, Nova.
What is your favourite aspect of your ring?
It’s a pear and emerald cut toi er moi design. Nicole loves how sparkly it is when it catches the light.

Why did you choose Class A?
We wanted to find a place that would allow us the flexibility to design what we wanted. Other jewellers that we went to were very strict about what they would and wouldn’t allow us to do. Class A Jewellers was the best.
Josiah and Nicole, congratulations to you both on your engagement!
We absolutely love how personal and true to you your proposal was. There is something so special about choosing your new home as the place where this next chapter begins, and the unexpected cameo from your Golden Retriever makes it even more memorable. It sounds like such a perfect mix of heartfelt and fun, just as it should be.
Your ring is stunning. The combination of pear and emerald cut stones in a toi et moi design is such a beautiful reflection of your story, and we are so glad you trusted us to bring your vision to life. It means a lot to hear that you felt the freedom to create exactly what you wanted with us. Thank you for letting us be part of such an exciting moment in your lives. Wishing you both a lifetime of love and many more special memories in your new home together.
With love
The Class A Team
