Maddie & Gavin

Maddie and Gavin first met at their church about a decade ago. What started as a friendship, soon blossomed into a romance when the pair realised they both had stronger feelings for each other. Fast forward three years of being together and Maddie and Gavin have taken the next big step in their relationship!

The Proposal

Gavin popped the big question on the 19th September 2023 at Henley Beach, surrounded by friends and family.

Tell us about the proposal:
What I thought was going to be a lovely girls night at Henley, ended up being the most amazing night of my life! We had ordered a round of drinks and were catching up when before I knew it, there was a photographer, a change of clothes of a beautiful white dress and heels and my best friend saying "it’s happening now!" I was completely shocked. I quickly went to the bathroom to get changed. My girls helped freshen up my makeup and I tried to call my sister but it went to message bank twice - I should have guessed something was up.

When I was ready, I was handed a beautifully wrapped present of a photo book telling our story which ended with 'our adventure continues…’, followed by a letter with a sweet love note. The girls led me downstairs and walked me towards Henley Square where I saw a bunch of UE Boom speakers lined up and I tried to put all the pieces together. I got handed the next letter and then suddenly my sister burst out of nowhere and ran towards me with a white flower and started dancing with 4 of my friends (I’m a dance teacher and dancer so this is so on brand for me!). They were starting a flash mob! I immediately started laugh/crying and enjoyed the next 4 minutes of roses, family and friends (some who had driven a long way to surprise me) dancing to a medley of High School Musical, The Greatest Showman and September by Earth Wind and Fire (fitting for a September proposal!).

When it finished, I somehow ended up in the centre with everyone cheering for me and I got handed my final letter. All I could think was ‘where is he?’. The girls led me down to the beach (little did I know there was a giant flash mob crowd following me and so many other strangers who had come to watch).

I saw Gavin standing on a picnic rug with candles, fairy lights, rose petals...the lot! The sunset was perfect and he looked so nervous. I was so excited to hug him and tell him "you missed a GREAT show".

I’ll never forget the way he looked at me when he asked me to spend forever with him. As I said "YES" and we celebrated, there were cheers from all across the beach and lots of people joining the celebrations.

As there weren’t many people left to call and tell the news, we were able to sit and watch the sunset, and then we went out for dinner as he unpacked every detail of the surprise and we laughed and cried and celebrated the most happy day of our lives!

The next morning we were having breakfast at Yolk Cafe and decided to pop into Class A Jewellers next door to tell the story and so I could tell them how much I loved the ring in person!

What are you most looking forward to about being married?:
We can’t wait to dream up our future life together and one day have a family.

The Ring

Maddie's ring features a beautiful pear diamond, set on a diamond-set white gold band.

What is your favourite aspect of your ring?
I love how elegant the ring makes my hand look and the shape and structure elongates my fingers. I literally jumped with excitement when I saw it for the first time!

Why did you choose Class A?:
It was all Gavin - I had given him lots of photos of what I liked and my ring size. Gavin was most impressed with the customer service and lifetime free ring cleaning that Class A offers.

What a proposal! Congratulations to these two on their exciting next chapter!
