Jess & Jack

Jess and Jack first met on Hinge, but later discovered they had many mutual friends and actually grew up in the same area. In fact, when Jack was a teenager working at Foodland, he used to take Jess' mum’s groceries out to her car!

The Proposal

After four years together, Jack proposed in the scenic Mount Loft Botanic Gardens on 16th March.

Tell us about the proposal:
A year prior to our engagement, Jack asked my parents for their blessing. From very early on in our relationship, Jack knew exactly where he was going to propose, although he kept this a secret from me of course. I met Jack’s grandma, Marlene, not long after we started dating and she told me just how happy she could see I made Jack. About a year and a half into our relationship, Marlene sadly passed away and her ashes were scattered in the upper section of the Mount Lofty Botanic Gardens. Jack thought it would be special if he proposed to me here.

In the lead up to the proposal, I was getting a little bit suspicious that something may be happening. It was a week after Jack’s birthday, of which I surprised him with lunch and a staycation in McLaren Vale, however he wanted the celebrations to continue the next weekend with just the two of us again. We’d obviously spoken about getting engaged eventually, but I wasn’t sure when or how it would happen. All I knew on this day was that we were going out to lunch at Barrister’s Block. On the way to the winery, Jack said he wanted to do a quick detour to Mount Lofty Botanic Gardens as he hadn’t been there since his Grandma’s ashes were scattered. I didn’t really think anything of it at the time other than that sounded like a really nice idea. Jack brought a picnic rug with him for us to sit on and I later found out his plan was to go to the shops on the way for some cheese and crackers but I was running late getting ready so he didn’t have enough time! Jack had organised a photographer to take photographs and capture videos of the engagement so we were running out of time (unbeknown to me)!

We were sitting on the picnic rug, taking in the serenity of the gardens, and Jack  popped the question. I ended up having to coach Jack to get on his knee, but it was a beautiful proposal and very special! He ended up organising all our family and close friends to surprise me at the winery afterwards which was just incredible.

What are you most looking forward to about being married?:
Spending the rest of our lives together and extending our little family. A week after we got engaged, we got our puppy, Douglas, and we can’t wait to one day have children of our own.

The Ring

What is your favourite aspect of your ring?
Jack went with the Grace ring and it the most perfect ring I could have asked for. The slim gold band perfectly complements the glistening oval cut diamond and it is just stunning. I get so many compliments on it.

Why did you choose Class A?:
Both Jack’s parents and my parents went to Class A Jewellers for their wedding rings so it felt so fitting we did the same. We could not recommend them enough, and Brad was so helpful and very kind to deal with - he made the process really easy and enjoyable.

Best wishes to Jess and Jack on their future together!
