Della & Brock

The Couple

Tell us about how you two first met:
The modern century love story - 'the slide into the DM’s'. I was travelling to the Sunny Coast with a girlfriend for a holiday and he asked me out for a coffee and I declined because “what would be the point if he lives on the Coast”. Fast forward 4 weeks after a lot of communication and videos of his very cute dog (I had no chance), he flew to Adelaide to take me out for dinner. We didn’t leave each other's pocket for two weeks straight. Then commenced the flights back and fourth until the covid lockdowns happened. After the 5 weeks of QLD/SA border closures had ended, I moved to the Sunny Coast to live and we have barely spent a day apart since. We now have the sweetest 9 month old boy Reef together, our dream home, two fur babies and here we are engaged.

The Proposal

Brock popped the question at Port Willunga beach on 11 January 2024.

Tell us about the proposal:
Brock flew our beautiful friends down from Brisbane (one who happens to be a professional photographer) to do a family photo shoot and he booked a stunning Airbnb in Hindmarsh Valley for the week. I was under the impression it was for a catch up with them and to spend some quality time winery and beach hopping and the cherry on top was to be able to get some photo keepsakes one day while they were here. We got down to Port Willunga for sunrise and got some photos with our little guy. After that they said to get some 'mum and dad' shots. The last shot turns into me turning around to Brock on one knee, oblivious to it all and me standing there sobbing nodding my head. It was Brock coming up and hugging me and asking if it was a “yes” - of course it was.

We spent the day celebrating at wineries and dinner down on the beach for sunset. It was the perfect day. Celebrating our love with our friends and family and we happen to have it all captured to cherish that day forever.

What are you most looking forward to about being married?:
Della: I can’t wait to be Brock’s wife. We were always spending the rest of our lives together, married or not but I think that commitment to each other, forever, is so special. I get to grow old with my best friend and go through all the good and bad with my biggest supporter and grow our little babies with the man I adore, making each other laugh and dancing in the kitchen until we’re grey and old.

Brock: Getting to tell everyone that she’s my wifey and making it official that I want to spend the rest of my life with her. I couldn’t think about about never not having her by my side.

The Ring

Set in yellow gold, Della's solitaire ring features a beautiful radiant cut diamond.

What is your favourite aspect of your ring?
Della: I had told Brock forever ago if he ever proposed to make sure it’s a gold band, single diamond. Preferably radiant (which yes I did explain “the rectangle one”) but I would say yes also to a Cheerio. He definitely outdid the Cheerio! The fact that the organised it all and I didn’t have a clue and was so specific on what he wanted makes my heart melt. He nailed it, it is so beautiful.

Why did you choose Class A?:
Brock: A family friend works with Class A and couldn’t recommend them more highly. The process was super easy. I gave them the specifications I wanted and was given options from there. Next thing I’m picking up the ring and hiding it in my underwear drawer! I wanted to get her the perfect diamond and when I opened the box for the first time I was so happy with the result.
