Fate truly brought Nicole and Stephen together! Unknowingly, they both grew up on the same street, yet never met until later in life. The pair connected through mutual friends and every since that day, they've been inseparable. Despite Nicole and Stephen never crossing paths when they were kids, the universe definitely planned for them to end up together! Four years on and the couple are now taking the next big step...
The Proposal
With memories of their first getaway as a couple in mind, Stephen popped the question in Sorrento on the 22nd of July 2023.
Tell us about the proposal:
We were on our first holiday overseas together - 3 weeks in Italy.
The day of the proposal we spent a day in Capri. When we got back to our room in Sorrento, Stephen kept telling me he wasn’t feeling well and I put it down to heat stroke because of how hot it was in Italy. Little did I know, he was nervous because he was going to propose to me that night. We had a siesta and Stephen woke up feeling better. He told me to get ready as he booked somewhere for us for dinner which wasn’t unusual. “Babe make sure your ready by 7, the booking is at 7:30”. So I quickly got ready and we were out the door.
As we were walking, Stephen turns to me and says “ohh nooo I booked for 8:30 not 7:30” and I said “that’s okay, we are out now let’s go to a bar”. Stephen then insisted that we go to the lookout overlooking the coast of Sorrento. I didn’t think much of it and thought it was a great idea. So we went and sat on a bench at the lookout. Sunset was about to happen so we stood at the edge of the lookout and admired the view. The next moment I know, Stephen taps me on the shoulder, I turn around in confusion and he gets down on one knee and says “Nicole, will you marry me?” I burst into tears with complete shock and excitement. My heart beating out of my chest I said "YES, OF COURSE". We were applauded by everyone around us, but in that moment it felt like no one else was there just us two.
Later on that night during dinner, I asked Stephen “what made you pick Sorrento?” and Stephen said “I picked Sorrento because our first little getaway we stayed at the Middleton Beach Huts and our hut was called Sorrento, and when I asked you to be my girlfriend we were at the beach at sunset”. Needless to say, after that I started crying again of sheer happiness. I later then found out that my aunty and uncle who we were travelling with set up the whole plan with Stephen and my aunty had the ring in her bag the whole trip! I am so blessed!
What are you most looking forward to about being married?:
Creating our life and being a united couple.
The Ring
As timeless as it is beautiful, Nicole's ring features a round brilliant cut centre diamond and a diamond-set platinum band.
What is your favourite aspect of your ring?
I love my ring so much. I love the six claws and the diamond band. I also love how shiny it is!
Why did you choose Class A?:
Stephen organised breakfast one morning and said “let’s pop into Class A” which was his plan the whole time. We went in and picked a few then he went back and picked 'the one'.
