Moissanites

Learn more about this contemporary gemstone that provides the ultimate "wow factor" for a fraction of the cost.

Discovered in 1893, Moissanite comes from space, created by a meteorite that fell to earth. Due to its rarity, moissanites available today are laboratory grown.

Moissanites are very high on the Mohs Scale of Hardness. They have a score of 9.25 and are almost as hard as a diamond which comes in at 10. This makes them extremely durable and suitable for everyday wear.

Costing a fraction of the price of a diamond, moissanites offer an affordable alternative and provide the ultimate "wow" factor. As an example, a good quality two or three carat diamond may cost tens of thousands, whereas an equivalent moissanite will be one to two thousand, depending on the quality of the stone.
